Sjaantje van Ingen Isaac Israels
Recently the Dutch art magazine Eye organized a Miss Holland contest. The magazine nominated 67 nudes and presented them on a website and everybody could vote for the most beautiful nude in the history of Dutch painting. The winner is Sjaantje van Ingen, a reclining nude made by Isaac Israels. She was one of his favourate models and he painted her several times. Isaac israels beated famous painters like Rembrandt, Breitner, Memling, Breughel, and van Gogh. Two of the nominated nudes I painted myself some time ago and you can view them on my website (click the tab miscellaneous). It was a difficult choice but I finally decided to vote for" Bathseba" of Rembrandt .
